Giving to Others from What We’ve Been Given
With Thomas Williams, Former NFL Linebacker, Speaker, Author, and NFL Player Engagement Ambassador
Blessed to Bless Others
Blessings come in various packaging. Even in difficult times, God gives us everything we need and more if we’re willing to see it.
In this episode of Relentless Hope, Thomas Williams, former NFL linebacker turned motivational speaker, teaches us about giving to others and discovering our purpose through losses.
Words of Hope:
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
– Winston Churchill
LIFE
In part 1 of this 3-part series, Thomas Williams shares his story of discovering God’s purpose for his life after experiencing a career-ending neck injury. He discovered God’s calling by realizing that he is passionate about building people up and motivating them. Thomas imparts vital life lessons that have guided him in finding and pursuing his purpose, including mastering tasks others may avoid and upholding a solid work ethic. Most importantly, Thomas emphasizes the significance of seeking solace in God’s Word amid challenges and hardships.
LEADERSHIP
In part 2 of Relentless Hope, Thomas shares his realization that God didn’t remove him from football for punishment; He removed him so he could lead and help others. God gets us through our trials, so we are inspired to encourage others to seek Him in their trials. Thomas believes leaders must be good listeners, held accountable, confident, and assertive in decision-making. Leadership requires an open mind, and ego should never take the lead. It’s important to remember that if we’re in a leadership role, God calls us to be a good example—people will not follow someone they don’t respect.
LEGACY
In part 3 of the podcast, Thomas emphasizes the importance of giving back to others. He encourages everyone to pay it forward and share their knowledge so others can grow.
Jesus gave us the ultimate gift: a path to spend eternity with God. His grace and compassion live on through us when we give generously, spreading his blessing of mercy by offering our support to those around us. This act of kindness ensures that Christ’s sacrificial love is still alive today!
Scripture to reflect on:
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
- Luke 6:38
Closing prayer for Thomas’ story:
Dear Lord, please show me the needs of my community, the people around me, and my loved ones. Please teach me to give freely and in faith, knowing that You provide endlessly for my needs. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
God blesses us daily with abundant love and light that we have the opportunity to share! When we give back, we become channels through which His grace manifests. Let’s take a moment today to embrace this blessing by offering kindness and generosity.
