Finding God’s Plan After a Career-Ending Injury
with Joe Musselman, Entrepreneur, Venture Capitalist, and Founder of The Honor Foundation
Perseverance Leads to Purpose
Believe it or not, you have already impacted the lives of many just by being you. And know that it’s more than what you can imagine. God has gifted us all with abilities to change the world through our actions, words, and talents. Sometimes we face hardships to find our purpose.
This week on Relentless Hope, Joe Musselman shares how he discovered his superpower and mission after facing a career-ending injury. Let’s learn from his story how to embrace failure while trusting God will turn it into success.
Words of Hope:
“Success is…knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others.”
- John C. Maxwell
LIFE
In part 1 of Relentless Hope, Joe recounts his time in the Navy Seals—which he was fully committed to—but an injury forced him to end his service prematurely. Though he faced a period of darkness and anger, he ultimately discovered his calling.
Joe encourages us to ask ourselves these questions: How often do we analyze our gifts and consider how we can bring positive change to the world? Have we learned from our failures and recognized the strengths gained? Our struggles can catalyze positive change and empower us to make a meaningful impact.
LEADERSHIP
In part 2 of this 3-part series, Joe discusses the power of values in leadership positions. When our core values guide our decisions, our vision and mission become clearer, and we can preserve our integrity even in difficult situations.
Joe also encourages leaders to prioritize the well-being of their team by creating a meaningful support system.
LEGACY
In part 3, Joe provides insights on building legacies by finding joy in work and relationships. This joy is a ripple effect when we are excited about our lives and what God is doing. Joe prompts us to reflect on whether or not we wake up each day excited for the work and relationships ahead. And if not, how can we take action to make our dreams a reality?
He also highlights ways to leave profound legacies and challenges us to practice dependable servant-leadership. Our words and actions can help others find their purpose when we serve.
Scripture to reflect on:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
- Matthew 5:16
Closing prayer for Joe’s story:
Dear Lord, this life is a gift. And I know You have gifted me talents and abilities that You call me to use for Your glory and pleasure. And I know You have given me an extraordinary assignment—I surrender my hopes, dreams, plans, and goals to Your will. My greatest desire is to shine the light You have given me. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
