DAILY VITAMIN
Faithfulness gets measured in small rooms.
You are waiting for the assignment that feels worthy of you. Meanwhile there is a small one sitting on the counter that nobody will ever clap for.
Do one unglamorous task today and do it all the way.
Finish something you have been leaving at eighty percent.
Stop announcing it.
INSPIRATIONAL STORY
Do the Small Thing
A calling is a big thing. It provides your life with clarity, purpose, and a guidepost for decisions.
Yet many are discouraged because they haven’t found theirs yet. But what if your remarkable calling was hidden behind unremarkable decisions?
Moses kept sheep for forty years in the back of a desert.
David ran lunch out to his brothers.
Ruth picked leftover grain in a stranger's field, all day, in the heat, for scraps.
None of them knew they were in a Bible story. They were doing the small thing in front of them, badly lit and unwitnessed.
Jesus said it in one line. “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
This is a description of how God actually builds people. He does not hand a big room to somebody who will not sweep a small one.
Which brings us to the thing on your counter…
The email you keep not sending.
The mundane task you keep putting off.
The eighty-percent project you will not close out, because finishing is boring and starting is exciting.
Nobody is going to clap for these things, but they add up slowly into the sum of your calling.
The night before He saved the world, Jesus picked up a towel and washed twenty-four feet. He did it Himself, on the floor, in the dark.
Here’s your focus for today:
Pick One Small Thing: Choose the least glamorous task on your list and do it completely.
Close Out the Eighty Percent: Finish one thing that has been sitting almost done for weeks.
Skip the Announcement: Do it today without telling anyone you did it.
Anchor your day in this truth: “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” (Luke 16:10)
The towel is right there.
Nobody is watching.
Pick it up.
